For the Industrial Market, EFS is able to supply acoustic systems such as enclosures, doors, silencers and barriers for power generation equipment and process equipment.

Other equipment includes Advanced Nozzle Dilutors for exhaust stack applications to minimize the propagation of concentrated exhaust gases at low altitudes, under ambient conditions, that cause odor and potential health issues to local inhabitants.

Personnel Rooms and Equipment Enclosures

Rooms and enclosures are custom configured to suit customer requirements using pre-engineered wall and ceiling panels, doors, windows and silencers. To insure that requirements are met; isolated floors, access panels, removable wall and ceiling panels are provided where necessary.

Rooms and enclosures can be assembled on-site, or shipped to the customer as assembled units or modules. Modular and pre-assembled units are provided with fork lift or crane lift points as required. Window options include double-glazed safety glass, wire glass, polycarbonate, or bullet resistant glass and may be installed straight or sloped. Door options include single-leaf, double-leaf or sliding, with or without windows. Silencers as required for ventilation or equipment requirements that maintain the acoustic requirement of the customer are also supplied.

As required units can have factory installed, computer and raised floor systems, electrical and lighting systems, HVAC systems and plumbing designed to meet customer requirements.

Rooms and enclosures are constructed using wall and roof panels with numerous options including 16 or 12 gage solid skin, 16 or 22 gage perforated face sheets, carbon steel, galvanized steel, or stainless steel or special bullet-resistant construction. A range of acoustical performance requirements can be achieved, normally STC 40-56 though higher performance can be provided as necessary. The panel construction provides a Thermal Insulation Value of R-14 and higher. The interior and exterior can be finish painted in accordance with customer color preferences.

Weatherproof Units are supplied for external applications. All materials are acoustically rated by independent testing laboratories to ensure the appropriate noise reduction for every application including:

Barrier Walls

Barrier Walls are normally used to place a sound barrier between a noise source and a target population. The barrier creates a "sound shadow" zone that reduces the unwanted noise and can be tailored to cover almost any size area either indoors or out, for ground mounted or rooftop applications.

Absorptive noise control barriers provide maximum noise reduction with lightweight modular panels and/or louvers. The noise barrier system is easy to install and if used for temporary applications are easy to dismantle and relocate. Panels and louvers are self-draining and constructed of galvanized steel or aluminum and finish painted in a weather resistant polyester powder coating in customer specified colors. The finish is also graffiti resistant and cleanable. A 10 year warrantee is offered on barrier systems.

Panels can be mounted horizontally or vertically with joint overlap options to suit customer needs. Varying thicknesses of panel are also offered from 2 – 5”, together with combinations of solid/solid or perforated/ solid face sheets. All products independently tested (STC 37 and above, NRC 0.95 and above).

An existing wall can be lined with sound-absorbing cladding panels as an effective, cost-efficient method of reducing reflected sound.

Vertical Lift Doors

Vertical Telescope & Sectioned Doors provide exceptional security, reliability and efficiency for interior or exterior applications. The simplified design eliminates the need for counterbalance systems, hinges and pivot points. The compact unit requires little head space and side clearance. The enclosed in-header drive system mounts neatly above the curtain and has minimal projection. All operating mechanisms are neatly housed within the assembly, resulting in a finished, uncluttered look. Baked on acrylic finish is available in standard and custom colors together with the option of Stainless Steel panels. The use of inverted steel panels and a locking bottom beam curtain panel; together with Teflon® strips that separate the contact surfaces areas and provide quiet, weather-tight operation as the door operates, provides unmatched security performance and is perfect for extreme weather and wind pressure Applications to 50 lb/ft2. In the event of damage occurring to the panels they can be individually removed and repaired or replaced with minimal downtime.

Double wall construction provides an excellent U-Value of 0.51and ASTM E-283 leakage tests conducted show 0.93cfm/l in.ft of perimeter and no air leakage through the curtain with wind speeds at 25mph.
Sound reduction STC ratings of 29 and 51 are offered.

Safety features include safety stops, safety reversing edge and auto reverse. Various options for size, finish and operating speeds are available on request.

Horizontal Sliding Doors

Doors are constructed with durable 12 gauge and 16 gauge steel face sheets and provide a sound reduction rating of STC 51 as verified by independent laboratory tests. For exterior applications durable weather resistant finishes are available. Heavy duty track and trolley systems incorporate two-way adjustable steel rollers with stainless steel ball bearings for smooth horizontal and vertical operation during opening and closing. The system design allows for multi-directional adjustment of the leaf during installation to enable alignment requirements to be met. The doors utilize a design of non-pneumatic seal that is automatically engaged and disengaged with the locking system to insure that the seals are uniformly and continuously compressed around the door perimeter to prevent sound leaks when the door is closed. Seals can be adjusted without the need to remove the door.

As required doors can incorporate electrical motor operation with variable speed operation and UL listed control panels complete with 3-wire “fail-safe” reversing edge.
Single leaf and bi-parting leaf options are available, as are custom sizes.

Swing doors are available in single-leaf, double- leaf and bi-fold configurations to suit the project specification dimensional, acoustic and operational requirements. Personnel door configurations conform to ease of operation to ADA requirements. All door and frame components are factory assembled and tested as a complete assembly prior to shipment.

Factory assembly includes the installation of all seals, hinges, hardware and glazing as required. On arrival at site the door is ready for fast and easy installation. Doors feature Cam lift hinges and adjustable mortised bottom seals to adapt to site floor conditions and are available as fixed or split frame assemblies to enable installation to suit the site installation requirements including existing openings.

All door design configurations are tested for acoustic performance at an independent NVLAP approved testing facility and manufactured under strict quality controls to guarantee the acoustic performance meets the customer specification.

Window units are completely factory assembled including the installation of liner panels (powder-coated perforated steel or fabric), glazing and glass stops. The result is a window that leaves the factory as a finished product ready to install without the need to remove the glazing. All windows units are manufactured and assembled in a controlled environment and are available as fixed frame or split-frame systems to enable easy installation for a wide variety of site requirements in both new build and retrofit applications.

Windows can be manufactured to meet multiple requirements Ballistic ratings, blast/pressure and fire. STC rating from 48 to 57 and higher are available.

Wall Lining Finishes

Two basic types of liners are available depending on the use requirement. For industrial applications that involve equipment in ambient environmental conditions metal panels are offered. For personnel areas in controlled environments cloth covered panels are offered.

Custom made cloth covered acoustic fiber panels reduce reverberation for use in personnel areas with controlled environments. Panels are available with embossed finishes and a range of colors to suit customer requirements. Easy installation and removal.


Silencer designs for ambient air and gases at elevated temperatures, configured as rectangular baffles or conical bullets, with or without casings for new or retrofit projects are provided to suit customer requirements. Silencers are manufactured using materials to suit the environmental service and aero-acoustical requirements to minimize pressure drop. Heavy gage silencers for industrial/power generation and aviation jet test cells can also be supplied. Dependent on the service application; glass fiber, mineral wool and basalt are used as the acoustic medium which is wrapped in glass cloth suited to the operating temperature. Internal supports and frame design insure structural integrity is maintained. As required various types of rain hoods can also be provided. Finishes are selected to resist the particular environment of each application.

EFS LLC offers Advanced Nozzle Dilutor assemblies for a wide range of applications is a cost effective alternative to the requirement of a tall stack normally used to disperse noxious exhaust gases. Tall stacks have the associated issues of cost, construction and height restrictions imposed under zoning by-laws. This often results in short stacks being used for most applications that fail to adequately disperse the exhaust gases due to low level atmospheric conditions and adjacent structures such as buildings, trees and fences.

Adding an Advanced Nozzle Dilutor (AND) compensates for the disadvantages of a short stack using a Patented 3-Dimensional design configuration to induce ambient fresh air to decrease the gas concentration and accelerate the exhaust gases to a higher altitude before dispersal to atmosphere.
